Defence minister Mr. Predrag Bošković visited the Frigate of the Royal Navy HMS “Monmouth“, which entered today the Port Bar, where it will stay until 31st of March.

On that occasion, Bošković met with the Ambassador of Great Britain in Montenegro, Ian Whitting and Commander of HMS “Monmouth“, Captain Frigate Ian Feasey.

The Defence Minister expressed his satisfaction with the visit of the ship of one of the largest navies in the world, which, as he stated, is another expression of trust by NATO partners, as well as the sign that Montenegro is capable of being a part of the collective security system. He emphasized that this visit sets a common platform for enhancing future cooperation between ministries of defense and navies of two countries.

Ambassador Whiting said that the visit of the ship represents a confirmation of the UK's commitment to strategic partnership with Montenegro and accented the readiness to continue with providing expert support in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Captain Feasey stressed that it is an honor and privilege to visit Montenegro in the year in which it becomes a NATO member, pinting out that this visit strengthens the strategic partnership between our two countries.

HMS "Monmouth" is visiting Montenegro on its way to the Persian Gulf, where it will join other ships engaged in the preservation of the safety of waterways. The mission of the ship is to protect trade routes and maintain sea safety through surveillance, deterrence and the fight against piracy and terrorism at sea.

The visit of the British frigate is realized within the framework of the Bilateral Cooperation Plan between the Montenegrin and British Ministries.
